Cover Art for ENCHANTED IVY!!!

Look, look, look!!!

Cover art for ENCHANTED IVY!!!

*flails*

I am very, very excited to share with you the cover for my next novel, ENCHANTED IVY, coming from Simon & Schuster / Mar
garet K. McElderry Books on October 12, 2010.

ENCHANTED IVY is a story about getting into college. You know, taking the campus tour, talking to the gargoyles, flirting with the were-tigers, riding the dragons... While visiting the campus of Princeton University, 16-year-old Lily discovers a secret gate to a magical realm and must race against time to save herself, her world, and any hope she has of college admission.

I am absolutely in love with this cover. Yep, head over heels with a jpeg. I can't stop staring at it. The art was created by the extremely talented Sam Weber. (You can see more of his work here.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you to my editor and everyone at Simon & Schuster for giving my book this lovely cover. Snoopy dance of joy!!!

Sooooo..... Do ya like it?

Oooh, excellent. I can definitely "sell" this cover at my library. *pops title onto pre-order list for fall*. 'Course, I might have to sneak it off the cataloger's cart and read it first...

I remember when my daughter was younger - maybe 6 or 7 - we drove past Princeton University and she said, with awe in her voice "This place is enchanted!" Apparently I didn't know how right she was! Can't wait for the book.

hooray! i've pre-ordered 7 copies already. thinking about placing another order as well. after all, isn't it a moral imperative to buy one for all the fellow p'ton alums i'm still in touch with? (or even an excuse to get BACK in touch with those i haven't heard from in a while?) guess what everyone's getting for the winter holidays...?

Rick: Cool! Thanks, #1 Ninja.

Kirthi: That’s exactly how I felt when I first saw the cover art. Glad you like it too!

Jennifer: Great to hear! Thanks!

A Simple Love of Reading: *blush* Thank you! So happy you like it!

Terry Lynn Johnson: Thank you! I can’t wait either! :)

Christine: Your daughter was right -- it is enchanted. I fell in love with Princeton when I first stepped onto the campus and saw the trees. It’s filled with these old magnificent oaks and elms and sycamores...

Cari: Thanks! I love it too. The artist is fantastic.

Melissa: Thank you so much!

Dave: Thanks!!

Q: Thanks!!

Jordan: I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was ten years old. Really, it’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to be.

my smile of the day - I"m an education major with a concentration in literature and literacy - I'm in a YA literature class and in visiting the ALAN website for a research project i saw ICE reviewed there. It made me smile cuz the class focuses so much on the beginnings of YA lit (you know, S.E. Hinton, Robert Coremir etc) and I love current YA lit - it's my favorite and I get really excited when ever I'm doing something in the class and come across something about you or Tamora or other authors i like

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i remember about 2 years ago- or was it a year and a half? that you mentioned this along with ICE and i was thrilled. then it never got mentioned again, and i was sad, because i though it might be not happening. now there are 16 books i want to read this year- i guess i need to be doing more babysitting :)

i wanted to say that your fairy tale posts have inspired me to re-tell folk tales( from Italo calvino's book) to my bus stop friends- i have 8 followers and i tell them all to read your blog. ( by the way, i'd like to hear/ read your re-tellings of some of them- i know you did sleeping beuaty and her children from the collection, but if you ever have time, there are some pretty strange stories in there!

Alexa: Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it!

Phebe: I can’t wait either! Very excited for October.

PaulaAlicia: I love YA lit too (obviously), and Tamora Pierce is my favorite author. I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t read all that many of the "classics." Or maybe it’s just that I haven’t read all that many books without dragons or talking cats… :)

Dannie: Thanks! That’s pretty much the same reaction I had when I saw the cover. The artist (Sam Weber) did a fantastic job.

Sandy: Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!

Annadee: Ooh, I should definitely reread Italo Calvino’s collection. There are some nicely bizarre tales in there. Thanks for the suggestion!
