S - Congrats and good luck!
Question: Why are the scripts nominated in the movie category so NOT from 2007? How's that work?
Rick: Hi! And thanks! Eligibility for all the Nebula awards follows the following (complicated) formula. (Beware, there will be some math.) A work is eligible to receive recommendations (recs) from SFWA members anytime during the twelve month period starting from its release date. Whenever a work receives its 10th rec, it qualifies for the preliminary ballot for the current year. So, if a book/story/film comes out, for example, in February 2006, and receives its 10th rec in January 2007, it appears on the 2007 ballot. This is done to be fair to works that come out toward the end of the year, which otherwise would not have much time to accumulate recs. But it does have the effect of extending the total eligibility period to two years.
Hey Sarah Beth,
Congratulations! That's awesome news. I'm going to keep my fingers, toes and EYES crossed for you! :-)
YAY!!!
:-)
Congratulations!
Congratulations!! That is SO exciting.
Coe: I've had my fingers and toes crossed for a while, but crossing your eyes?! Now that's a good friend! Thank you so much!
Q and Erin: Thanks so much!!! I'm ridiculously excited about the whole thing.
Congrats! That's really good news! Whether or not you win, being on that ballot is quite something to be proud of. Good luck to you in the final voting!
Sheila: Thanks so much! I'm totally thrilled.
Oooh. You're coming to Austin? YAY!
Yes, I'm coming! Are you planning to attend any of the Nebula Awards Weekend events?
Sadly, that's the same weekend as our local SCBWI chapter's annual conference, BUT hopefully I can catch you for breakfast or dinner one of those days?
